This year, Daniels Healthcare proudly celebrates 25 years of partnership with Wilton Healthcare, a trusted distributor and valued partner in Northern Ireland. Established in 1996 in West Belfast, Wilton Healthcare has grown to become a leading supplier of clinical waste management solutions to all five Health and Social Care (HSC) Trusts in Northern Ireland: Belfast, South Eastern, Western, Southern, and Northern.

Over the years, Wilton has built a highly capable and responsive team, supported by strong relationships with both customers and suppliers.

Led by Managing Director David Millar and supported by a highly experienced team including Ena Hamilton, Wilton continues to deliver consistent, high-quality service across Northern Ireland. Their efficiency, commitment, and ability to handle such an impressive volume of work are nothing short of exceptional.

A relationship built on trust and resilience

Ross Millar Wilton HealthcareWilton Healthcare Operations Manager, Ross Millar, who joined the company in 2019 after a decade at PwC, said: “The relationship between Wilton and Daniels is built on trust. Throughout many challenges, such as Brexit and the COVID-19 pandemic, our partnership has remained resilient and committed. Together, we’ve ensured that frontline healthcare providers in Northern Ireland have access to the products they need to protect and care for people. Daniels Healthcare products are renowned for their high safety standards. These sharps containers not only help keep patients safe but also safeguard healthcare staff.”

Ross also highlighted the close working relationship between the two companies: “We enjoy a good, open relationship. Wilton and Daniels work as a strong team; together, we’ve never let a customer down.”

Unmatched local expertise

Wilton Healthcare’s presence in Northern Ireland ensures they can provide exceptional service to the HSC Trusts. With stock of the WIVA™ Infinity range held in their extensive Belfast warehouse, Wilton offers next-day, same-day, and even emergency one-hour deliveries. This local responsiveness and “boots-on-the-ground” approach have earned Wilton a reputation as one of the highest-rated suppliers in Northern Ireland, a testament to their outstanding relationships with the HSC Trusts.

Steven Boyle, Sales Director, UK & Ireland, Daniels Healthcare, said: “We are incredibly proud of our 25-year partnership with Wilton Healthcare. Their dedication and local expertise have been instrumental in making Daniels Healthcare the sole provider of clinical waste containers in Northern Ireland. This long-standing relationship reflects our shared commitment to quality, safety, and outstanding service.”

Supporting Northern Ireland’s climate goals

The Northern Ireland Climate Change Act has set ambitious targets to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with a bridging goal of at least a 48% reduction in net emissions by 2030. Wilton Healthcare and Daniels Healthcare are proud to play their part in helping to meet these targets through the introduction of Daniels Healthcare’s innovative, post-consumer recycled (PCR) solutions – WIVA™ Infinity and SHARPSGUARD® eco – into Northern Ireland.

The WIVA™ Infinity containers are the world’s first UN-approved clinical waste containers made from 100% responsibly sourced recycled plastic. Not only do they meet the highest standards in quality and safety, but they also provide a cost-effective and sustainable solution for the healthcare sector.

The SHARPSGUARD® eco containers are made using at least 40% recycled plastic, utilising plastic recovered from residential kerbside recycling.

The environmental benefits have been remarkable. From July 2023 to June 2024, the HSC Trusts in Northern Ireland achieved a 56% reduction in single-use plastic by switching from virgin plastic products to the SHARPSGUARD® eco and WIVA™ Infinity ranges. In addition, the trusts achieved a 29% reduction in C02 emissions, equivalent to taking 166 cars off the road or planting 13,300 trees.

This sustainability milestone demonstrates how Daniels Healthcare and Wilton Healthcare are not only delivering exceptional service but also actively contributing to a greener, more sustainable future for Northern Ireland.

Looking to the future

As Daniels Healthcare and Wilton Healthcare celebrate 25 years of collaboration, both companies are looking to the future with a shared commitment to innovation, sustainability, and excellence. Together, they continue to support healthcare providers on the frontlines, ensuring that safety, reliability, and environmental responsibility remain at the heart of their work.

Here’s to 25 years of success – and many more to come!
