New product launch – a world-first sharps container made from healthcare waste

Introducing the Daniels Healthcare 24L PCR sharps container made from medical waste.

In a huge step forward in circular healthcare waste management, Daniels Healthcare is excited to launch the 24L SHARPSGUARD® eco container – the first of its kind globally to be manufactured using recycled NHS healthcare waste.

This innovative product is the result of more than two years of development and collaboration with NHS partners and recycling experts.

Designed with sustainability, safety and performance in mind, the 24L SHARPSGUARD® eco container is made from up to 80% post-consumer recycled plastic, with up to 40% coming directly from healthcare waste that would otherwise be destroyed.

For the NHS, this represents a huge step forward. For Daniels Healthcare, it’s the beginning of an even bigger commitment.

Why it matters

Every year, NHS hospitals dispose of large volumes of plastic waste. Much of it is incinerated or sent to landfill. By capturing and reusing that material, Daniels Healthcare’s manufacturing partner’s process keeps valuable plastic in circulation, reduces carbon emissions, and helps the NHS move closer to its Net Zero ambitions.

The container also offers practical benefits:
