Supporting NHS infection prevention in Scotland

Daniels Healthcare was proud to support the NHS Highland Infection Prevention & Control Conference 2026, held at the Culloden-Balloch Baptist Church Hall in Inverness. The event was organised by the NHS Highland Infection Prevention & Control team and supported by Daniels Healthcare alongside GAMA Healthcare.

The conference brought together healthcare professionals from across the region to discuss some of the most important topics currently facing infection prevention and control teams, including antimicrobial resistance, immunisation, healthcare waste management, microbiology, and the challenges of delivering IPC best practice in rural healthcare settings.

Throughout the day, delegates attended a varied programme of presentations and discussions focused on sharing learning, improving patient safety, and supporting positive change across healthcare environments.

As part of the conference programme, Steven Boyle, Sales Director UK & Ireland – Healthcare, Daniels Healthcare, showcased recent improvements to the Daniels Healthcare SHARPSGUARD® range, including developments across our 24L sharps containers made from healthcare waste. Steven also presented to delegates about sustainability within healthcare waste management and the importance of supporting NHS organisations with practical solutions that balance safety, cost-effectiveness, and environmental responsibility.

Steven said: “It was a pleasure to spend time with the dedicated healthcare professionals working on the front line of infection prevention and control in the Highlands.

“Events like this are incredibly valuable for sharing best practice, especially when rural healthcare settings are quite a distance from each other. Discussing the challenges teams are tackling face-to-face, and exploring how innovation can support safer and more sustainable healthcare is essential for improvement and great for camaraderie.”

The conference agenda included presentations from microbiology specialists, IPC practitioners, and healthcare leaders across NHS Highland. Topics ranged from blood culture investigations and endoscopy water testing through to antimicrobial resistance, quality improvement, and delivering capital projects within healthcare environments.

Alongside Daniels Healthcare and GAMA Healthcare, the conference was also supported by Tristel, experts in chlorine dioxide infection prevention technologies and decontamination solutions.

We would like to thank the NHS Highland Infection Prevention & Control team for organising a successful and engaging event, and all delegates who took the time to speak with the team throughout the day.
