Team Focus: Pete Williamson, Clinical and Sales Support Manager, UK & Europe
This is part of a series of posts where we introduce each member of the Daniels Healthcare team, from across the organisation. We have a compliment of approximately 30+ staff members who all live and breathe the ethos of Daniels and you’ll get to meet many of them in this series.
Pete Williamson joined Daniels Healthcare in 1997 after a full career in the Royal Navy as a Leading Medical Assistant, Operating Theatre Assistant and a Registered Nurse.
The scope of his current role within Daniels Healthcare is wide-ranging and covers; clinical practice support sharing his wealth knowledge, managerial responsibilities for the sales support team, monitoring and reporting sales figures and activities, and gathering business intelligence to improve the company’s offering to better serve its customers in the UK and across Western Europe.
Pete says: “I’m usually on the same wave-length of the nurses I speak to. I understand the challenges they face and what they need to do their job effectively; I’ve been there, and I’ve been around the healthcare industry for a long time!
“I have met so many amazing people in this sector, and some have become good friends. I’ve seen them progress through the system and grow as people in their career. Some I first met when they first started out in nursing are now theatre managers and heads of infection control teams.”
Pete will be spending more time in Europe, looking at how different countries deal with clinical waste and in particular, sharps disposal. He says: “I’m looking forward to working with hospitals overseas and seeing how, as a company, we can help them to save money without affecting patient safety, and in fact, how we can help them improve patient safety while advising them on how to dispose of clinical waste more effectively. I hope we can learn from each other and share best practice”.
Gundam Model
In his spare time, Pete spends time with his son working on woodturning projects. They also have a shared interest in Gundam model kits and they team up every week to build their latest plastic robots together, which is quite an art. Pete says: “I really enjoy spending time with my family which includes three grandchildren who I see every weekend. We’ve also recently introduced a new addition to the family, Bob our energetic Golden Retriever, who is keeping us on our toes”
He says his colleagues would describe him as honest, hardworking and ‘there if you need him’. We couldn’t agree more Pete!
