Daniels Healthcare hits manufacturing milestone of 1 million theatre+ containers

Daniels Healthcare has achieved a momentous record of producing 1,000,000 SHARPSGUARD® theatre+ containers.

This uniquely designed container’s tall height and usable capacity make it perfectly suited for theatre departments and other areas where there is a need to dispose of long, sharp instruments, such as laparoscopes, chest drains or staples guns.

Marc Wood, Product Development & Technical Support Manager, who was part of the team involved in the design and launch of the SHARPSGUARD® theatre+, said: “I’m immensely proud to see the success of this product. Since its introduction in 2018, it has gone from strength to strength, with it being the chosen container for use in the NHS London Nightingale hospital in 2020 for its large usable capacity.”

Working in partnership with ENL Limited, a plastic injection moulding company based in Portsmouth, the SHARSPSGUARD® theatre+ was launched in 2018 to replace a container with similar functionality, with huge advantages. The updated design uses different moulding technology, reducing the amount of material used to make each container, and enabled them to inter-stack, saving the space needed when stored ready for use.

ENL played an instrumental role in designing, creating and the ongoing manufacturing of this product. Richard Gamble, Managing Director, ENL, said: “We’ve worked with Daniels from the very beginning with this container and we’re proud to be part of a product triumph like this.
