byBarrie Helps St Christopher’s Hospice Comply With HTM07-01 | Safe Management of Healthcare Waste
Our sales and customer support teams try their utmost to listen carefully to our customers’ needs, and provide the best guidance and solutions we can to assist them in their workplaces. Here is an example that one of our Business Development Managers, Barrie Rolls, shared with us recently.
Barrie, who covers the South East of England for us at Daniels – was contacted by the Matron and Infection Control Lead at St Christopher’s Hospice, London after he delivered a talk at a Daniels Study Day on safe Sharps disposal and the HTM07-01 (Health Technical Memorandum 07-01: Safe Management of Healthcare Waste) – even though he has been dealing with the hospice for a number of years via a supply chain.
St Christopher’s provides specialist palliative care for people in a range of settings including in people’s own homes and on inpatient wards. The hospice has been buying our SHARPSGUARD® containers and using our Danicentres for many years, through a supply chain – so Barrie was really pleased to end up working directly with the hospice itself. He has conducted a few audits of their site over the last couple of years and given them some clear and practical advice on how they could best comply with the HTM 07-01 Guidance. He also supplied them with some of our transport clips after discussing the problems their home visiting teams were encountering on trying to move Sharps containers safely.
The hospice’s inpatient unit will be closing soon for a complete refurbishment. During this time more people will be cared for in the community. Barrie is assisting by arranging to supply 80 of our TC002 clips for the large number of nurses that will be involved in home visiting teams.
“A big thank you Barrie. By providing the clips, you have helped our staff safely transport Sharps containers. Your guidance has been much appreciated.” – Anne Nash, Matron and Infection Control Lead, St Christopher’s Hospice, London
