Team Focus | Anna McEwen, Business Development Manager, South East
Anna McEwen joined Daniels Healthcare in 2023 as Business Development Manager, part of a dedicated team of representatives who work with NHS Trusts, Boards and other healthcare providers throughout the UK.
Anna specifically supports customers across the South East of England from the coastal counties of Norfolk and Suffolk in the east to Sussex and Kent in the south, providing practical assistance and advice on our products and services.
With 16 years’ experience in the personal protective equipment and hygiene products sector, Anna’s knowledge and skill is impressive. After starting out as an office administrator, Anna’s talent and determination saw her progress through the ranks to become a Surgical Sales Specialist, working closely with hospital and theatre teams to provide the best product solutions for these highly specialist environments.
Synergy with Daniels Healthcare
There were many reasons that Anna wanted to join the Daniels Healthcare team.
“I knew the Daniels Healthcare brand and some of the team members from attending trade shows, study days, and infection control events in my previous role,” said Anna. “There was some synergistic overlap between the products of the two companies too. For example, the packaging of the healthcare gloves I was supplying had to fit within the Daniels Healthcare danicentre, so I was already familiar with some of its products and staff.”
Anna adds that Daniels Healthcare’s approach to sustainability and reducing the dependency on virgin plastic was also a strong draw to the company:
“From a professional and personal standpoint, I am very aware of the need to make more sustainable choices. At home, we recycle our household plastic for kerbside collection so I was inspired to hear that Daniels Healthcare products use this recycled plastic for some of its product ranges. It’s good to know sustainability is being taken seriously and tackled in an innovative way.”
A warm (tea-filled) welcome
She says she already feels at home within the team:
“My colleagues have been warm, welcoming and helpful – each of the business development team called me to say hello and offer support when I first started which was very thoughtful.
I’ve also been on the factory floor with the operations team to see the containers being manufactured which was amazing.
The other element I’m really enjoying is meeting our customers. I’m on the road as much as possible getting to know the NHS Trusts in the South East. The healthcare professionals I’m meeting are all so friendly and knowledgeable and make the best cups of tea! I thrive on being helpful and being the go-to person so it’s an ideal role for me.”
Pedal power and writing worlds
In her spare time, Anna enjoys a range of hobbies and pursuits. When she’s not spending time with her three children, two guinea pigs, two cats, and pug, Anna is a gardening enthusiast and is currently learning Italian:
“Italy is my favourite place, for the art and the food in particular. If I won the lottery, that’s where I’d be,” she adds.
She is a keen writer, currently penning three ‘urban fantasy’ novels – a genre of literature in which the real world collides with the supernatural or magical world – which are now in the editing stage.
A passionate pro-cycling fan, Anna also writes for cycling websites and magazines as well as participating in sports podcasts.
