Daniels – a year in review 2016

dsc_5371-webIn the year that brought us President Trump, the Brexit bus and Team GB beating China to finish second in medal table at the Olympics, we take our very own, slightly less dramatic, look back at our year at Daniels!

We kicked off the year celebrating the fantastic work of Leeds Teaching Hospital which ran a ‘Golden Sharps Champion of Champions’ awards event. The award recognises the Trusts’ efforts to improve safe waste disposal and good segregation. Paul Curotto, Specialist Waster Trainer for Leeds Teaching Hospitals, along with his manager, Kath Senior and colleague Paul Stones had awarded 11 ‘Golden Sharps’ awards throughout the year for improvements to department’s waste segregation and innovation in new processes and savings, and this award went to “the best of the best”.

In May, we cheered Joan Pons Laplana (@thebestjoan) on as he Tweeted his way around Liverpool’s Rock’n’Roll Marathon course. Joan stopped at every mile point on the city’s course to post a selfie and a fact about Edith Cavell and the Cavell Nurses Trust, the charity he ran for.

We welcomed and introduced you to Nancy Masengu who joined us on an International Intern Programme; and Kevin Cundy, Harm Reduction Specialist who has dedicated his entire career to the sharps container, medical device and consumables industry, so we were delighted to have him on board. We also shared our Marketing & Customer Support Supervisor Imogen Jones’ experience of balancing working and studying after 16 years out of the classroom and she gave us her top tips on how to manage this successfully.

The dust has now well and truly settled after the announcement that Daniels has joined MAUSER, although there’s still a lot of excitement and team building as we see the way the two companies are uniting and how it’s business as usual for Daniels’ customers.

And what a better way to end the year than not only sponsor the Team of the Year award at the flagship Infection Prevention Society (IPS) Conference, but walking away with the Best Large Exhibition Stand Award 2016. It was the conference delegates who voted for the stand and that means so much to us.

Thank you to all of our customers, suppliers and partners – long-standing and new – for working with us this year and we look forward to an equally positive and successful 2017.
